Vaera 5780: Judging What is False

This week at our DMF shabbat gathering, the kids are sitting up front in the first of what we call our family services. This lesson, albeit catered towards kids, is in many ways just as applicable for adults, if not more so. We explore the question: why didn't God just execute the tenth plague and get Israel out of Egypt? Why did He have to do all ten? Also, will there be a day in the future when He will once again judge the false hope, false security, and false faiths of the nations? If so why and how can we prepare. Shemot 5780: The Cycle of Antisemitism

Reflections on The Last Night of Hanukkah

The following is a re-recording of the thoughts and reflections given by Gabe at DMF's Hanukkah party which is held annually on the final night of Hanukkah. Are we dispelling darkness with our light or are we being influenced by darkness? This is the question we must ask ourselves on a daily basis with every word, thought and action.  

Vayigash 5780: Ten Godly Principles From the Life of Yosef

In this week's teaching, Gabe looks at Torah portion Vayigash and explores the questions: what principles are there to be learned from the life of Yosef? How do we apply these principles to our lives? In the last portion of the teaching, Gabe discusses our roles as disciples of Yeshua. For 2,000 years, the church has created a portrait of Messiah that is antithetical to the Jewish expectations of a Messiah. Are we still doing the same thing. As a result of inaccurately representing Yeshua, this creates a stumbling block for the Jewish people to accept him as their messiah. It is important we represent the life and teachings of Yeshua in their proper historical and theological context.
